For The Ladies: Dear December

Why This December is the Time for Radical Self-Prioritization and Urgent Intentionality.

The calendar has officially turned to December 1st, the twelfth and final month of 2025. With this simple date comes an inevitable, thrilling rush of emotion. It’s a moment to pause, stand on the summit of the year, and look back. Feel that deep, quiet sense of pride for having navigated the last eleven months, for the strength it took to handle the unexpected, life-altering moments that rocked you to your core but ultimately changed you for the better.

This year, for all its twists and turns, was one for the books, and it is a profound blessing to still be standing. As the world winds down, take these weeks not just as a break, but as a victory lap. Pat yourself on the back, savor the holiday peace you’ve earned, and immerse yourself in the comfort of family and friends.

December is inherently the season of giving, but the greatest gifts we receive are often the most personal, the warmth of sisterhood, the unwavering call from your mother, the laughter around the dinner table. We must lean into the absolute necessity of cherishing our loved ones. Kindness is not a debt owed; it is a gift we exchange, and the stability of those relationships deserves your focused, present energy. Don't just have them; honor them.

But let's keep it 100: for us as women, walking through the seasons of love- romantic, familial, and divine- can be tough. We are conditioned to control, to manage, to over-function. It can feel impossible to let things simply flow and trust that God, or the Universe, has your back, leading you toward a life full of magic and fulfilment. This is where self-prioritization becomes essential.

Essentially, here's the paradox: The magic is real, but you must acknowledge your own contributions. Your life is unfolding based on the faith you hold and the action you take.

How many of us arrive at the end of December with a gnawing lack of satisfaction? We look at our impressive list of accomplishments- the job changes, the bills paid, the goals tackled- and still hear a harsh, inner voice whispering, “It’s not enough.”

The clock is moving fast, bestie. Yes, we are still young, but the years change our ages, our biological clocks tick forward, and our minds continue to evolve rapidly. This is not a reason to panic, but a reason to act with urgency and intentionality. The key to unlocking the life of your dreams is self-honesty, starting now.

Look closely in that mirror this December. Are you putting yourself first? Are you accommodating situations that compromise your peace because it’s easier than saying no? Are you standing on a bridge that should have been burned down two New Year’s Eves ago? This moment is a test of your self-prioritization.

Every year must build on the last. If you find yourself in the same situations, recycling the same emotional patterns, or chasing the same stagnant goals, then it’s time to switch it up. Your complacency is a contribution to your lack of movement.

Maybe you’ve been a girlfriend for years, and suddenly, the lack of commitment is no longer okay with you. It’s okay to stand on your wants. Those desires for elevation, for permanence, for deep satisfaction, have probably always been there. Maybe you were just more lax in enforcing the boundaries that protected them. True self-prioritization protects those desires.

Use this final chapter of 2025 as a moment to fearlessly shed your old self. Embrace all the complex feelings of pride, ambition, and longing. Then, commit to going after the life you’ve always dreamed, without apology or delay. Find love in every corner, take that risk, bake that thing, and expand joyfully into the woman you are becoming.

Your new year doesn't have to start January 1st; it could start today. The foundation establishes the moment you decide that self-prioritization is not selfish. Stop wasting time. Your life literally depends on it.
